Businesses back our awards

Printer Print Article

BIG-HEARTED businesses are getting behind this year's Helensburgh and District Community Spirit Awards.

The awards, organised by the Rotary Club of Helensburgh Garelochside in partnership with the Helensburgh Advertiser, are a chance to reward the people who make our town and the surrounding area such a special place to live.

And the generous involvement of our sponsors — Hammond and Company, Edward Jones, McArthur Stanton, Admin Systems and GSS — means this year's awards will go with a bang.

Each of our sponsors said they were excited by the opportunity to do something positive for our community.

Paul Hammond, of Hammond and Company, said: `Helensburgh has a lot to offer and has many talented people.

`We must do all we can to support and encourage them.`

Brian Stephenson, a partner at Admin Systems, said: `We're excited to be part of these awards. Sometimes it takes a special event like this to make people appreciate how much this area has going for it. If we can help to make the awards a success then we are only too happy to help.`

A spokesman for Rhu-based GSS said: `It's a pleasure to support an exciting initiative like the Helensburgh and District Community Awards. As a business, we pride ourselves on our strong community links so stepping forward as a sponsor was the natural thing to do.

`This is an excellent chance for our local heroes, who do so much to make this area such a special place to live, to finally get the recognition they deserve.`

John Gilmour, a consultant at McArthur Stanton, said: `McArthur Stanton have been a community conscious firm since its inception in 1847, when founding partner George MacLachlan was Town Clerk.

`Now in the 21st Century, this firm continues to be heavily involved in the community, with key personnel being members of the Rotary Club, Round Table, Lions Club and the like.

`We have a commitment to the sponsorship of Helensburgh Golf Club, Bowling Club and Cricket and Rugby Club, as well as youth football, theatre groups and school projects.

`So it is wholly fitting that we should sponsor and support this excellent joint project by Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary Club and the Helensburgh Advertiser. The publicity will foster civic pride which will add to the feel good factor in our community.`

Robin Duttfield, Investment Representative for Edward Jones Investments, Helensburgh, said: “The whole Edward Jones business model is to provide services within the local community.

`As that’s our business, I think we should really be trying to support, reward and encourage any forms of participation or achievement within the community.

“I think there’s a lot of good work that’s not recognised within the community locally.`
