A councillor has embarked on a mission to explore crime in Helensburgh and Lomond.

James Robb spent a night on the beat with Helensburgh-based officers in a bid to learn more about their work.

Councillor Robb, who is a member of Strathclyde Joint Police Board, joined Inspector Gavin Bone and Sergeant Scott Tees from the town’s police office, to patrol the streets during a weekend late shift.

His role on the Joint Police Board — to which elected members from local authorities throughout the area are appointed in a bid to oversee policing issues — was the catalyst for his decision to go out on the beat.
