Bids sought for rural gem
By Steve McElroy
NEW FUTURE: Collychippen Farm would be suited to a Grand Designs-type project.
A DERELICT former stone-built farm cottage on a rural site on Loch Lomondside is up for auction next week with a price tag of around £40,000.
The stone shell is known as Collychippen Farm Cottage and is situated in Glen Luss, behind the village, and within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
The building is being sold off by SVA Property Auctions and comes under the hammer along with 64 other lots on Wednesday May 7 at the Quality Central Hotel, Glasgow.
The cottage is said to enjoy an attractive setting and, because it is derelict, is described as “obviously not for the faint-hearted.”
However, SVA say that it is suitable for a “Grand Designs” style project, subject to obtaining the necessary consents, which could transform the ruin into a rural idyll for either owner occupation or holiday use.
They say: “The price tag on this one-off piece of iconic Scottish landscape is likely to be around £40,000.”
Shaun Vigers, SVA Property Auctions director and auctioneer, said: “We are obviously in a period of market uncertainty, but for buyers looking for a specific investment in a business sector or for a family home, I am confident that they will find sound, value for money purchases, and of course, there are always a people with vision and flair who deserve to find a gem like Collychippen Farm.”
