LIFE SAVER: Members of Helensburgh Rotary Club present cheque to Coxswain Frank Rogers and the lifeboat crew.

A BIG band concert provided a big cheque for the crew of Luss Rescue boat to help keep them afloat.

Members of Helensburgh Rotary Club organised the musical event in February which raised a magnificent £1,200.

The proceeds were split between the vital Loch Lomond service and the Rotary Club’s Foundation, which distributes money throughout the world to worthy causes such as hospital and education programmes.

Rotary President Derek Hall and Denis Taylor, who organised the concert, handed over the cheque for £600 to Ian Bilsand and James MacRae and fellow crew members at the boat’s station.

Mr Taylor said: “The money will go a long way towards the boat’s running costs, which are quite substantial what with the price of fuel at the moment.”

After the presentation the two Rotarians were treated to a trip on the vessel which was part of the crew’s training exercise.
