Man dies after Glen Fruin fall

Print | Email

A young man plunged to his death in a freak accident at Glen Fruin on Monday night.

David Pacey, 21, who was with friends paragliding at the beauty spot, slipped and fell.

It is thought that he had been pushing a friend to help him get airborne.

Emergency services attended, alongside a Royal Navy helicopter.

The man became wedged in a hillside gully near Shantron, close to Loch Lomond Golf Course.

A navy paramedic was winched in to treat the victim’s injuries but the man — from Glasgow — died a short time later.

It is thought the man, who was from the Glasgow area, suffered spinal and other trauma-related injuries. Despite their best efforts the medical teams were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police and paramedics removed his body from the hillside.

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
