Rosneath's Highland fiesta

TAKING A BOW: Highland dance prizewinners.
A GARELOCHSIDE community had an international flavour to it on Sunday when visitors and competitors from all over the world attended the popular Rosneath Highland Games.
Pipers, athletes, dancers and tourists from Germany, Italy, Nova Scotia, New South Wales, USA, Canada, Australia and Ireland were among those who converged on Howie Park for a spectacular sun-kissed 29th games.
Despite foreign competition in many of the events, it was the home competitors who fared better, particularly in the piping and dancing sections.
An estimated 2,000 people — thought to be slightly fewer than in previous years — flocked to the park and enjoyed a record number of competition entries including running, cycling and heavyweight sections taking place on the field and trackside.
