ANGRY: Families hit out after the trenches were dug.

RESIDENTS are outraged after a series of shallow trenches were dug in a woodland area of Helensburgh.

The attractive spot, within Castle Wood at the rear of Ardencaple Quadrant, has been criss-crossed by trenches, some 10 inches deep.

Although the site is understood to be owned by developers J Allan Osborne, nearby residents say they use the area to walk their dogs, have picnics in the summer and children frequently use it to play football.
