Water supply 'restored'
Drinking water has been restored in Helensburgh following the repair of a burst trunk main, Scottish Water said in a statement at 6am today (Wednesday).
Scottish Water engineers completed the repair of the burst main yesterday evening and the network has been recharged during the night.
The water supply was restored to the 6,000 properties in the Helensburgh area which had been affected by the burst.
The water authority said some properties had their water restored before others, depending on their location in the town, but supplies are now back to normal.
It is possible that some customers at the end of the network may still experience some disruption but, if they do, Scottish Water expects their supplies to be restored shortly. Customers with any concerns should call the Scottish Water Contact Centre on 0845 601 8855.
Some customers may experience temporary discolouration, but it is expected that this will run clear in time.
Scottish Water have apologised for the inconvenience caused to their customers in Helensburgh as a result of the burst main.
"We did everything possible to complete the repair and restore supplies quickly but very poor ground conditions made this difficult. The cause of the burst has still to be investigated," they said in a statement.
"We also did all we could to minimise disruption as a result of the burst by providing more than 300,000 litres of bottled water and 60 static tanks throughout the town."
