Engineers are currently on site (Thursday AM) at Hermitage Academy dealing with a second burst in the water mains system.

The problem is thought to be a repeat of the one which left households and businesses throughout the town without water on Monday and Tuesday.

Scottish Water say are urging customers not to use water unless necessary in a bid to conserve the supply as their engineers battle to combat the problem.

The following is a statement just issued by Scottish Water:

Scottish Water has experienced a second burst on the same section of main which burst on Monday. Additional contingency arrangements that were not available to us earlier in the week are being put in place. Our engineers are on site and are working with the utmost urgency to repair this burst and maintain normal service.

Scottish Water would ask customers to help us maximise the available water supply by only using water where necessary. We will continue to keep you updated on a regular basis as this incident progresses.
