Junior trophy fun
A GLORIOUS day greeted youngsters at Helensburgh Sailing Club last weekend as they competed in the junior trophy races.
Three round robin races were sailed under the watchful eye of race officer David Wilson.
The children, celebrating the end of the year’s training, enjoyed a day’s racing in the Toppers and club Picos.
In the Topper class it was a close fight between some of the more experienced racers, with Sarah Jeffrey taking first, just two points ahead of David Abraham.
Katrina Wylie came third, just a point behind, and included a win in her scoreline.
Three of the youngsters — Katherine Bull, Ewan Gogh and Morgan Serpell — had never raced solo before.
Morgan won the Picos, closely followed by David, with Katherine Bull in third place.
The racing was tight and proved just how much the children have improved under the expert guidance of their tutors throughout the year.
