BATTING: Douglas Willoughby
LOMOND school’s senior cricket team coasted to victory on Monday — arresting a period of disappointing results.
Victory at home to Kelvinside Academy 1st XI ended a run of three straight defeats, including one at the hands of the combined parents/teachers team.
Kelvinside were dismissed for only 64, thanks to some excellent bowling by Philip Stocks (5-15) while Niall Hope scored a rapid 44 not out, including eight boundaries.
The win by seven wickets sets the side up nicely for this Saturday’s clash with the High School 2nd XI then on Monday (June 16) comes the annual fixture against the XL Club at Ardencaple.
In the last two months, Lomond were put to the sword by Morrison’s Academy at Crieff, losing by a heavy 75 runs.
They managed a better performance against Dollar Academy 2nd XI at Ardencaple, reducing the opposition to 41-7 thanks to some excellent spin bowling from Peter Sajjad, who finished with 4-24. Chasing 102 for victory, only Dylan Black reached double figures, as the home side was dismissed for just 65.
But the most sore result was against the parents and teachers, whom they had defeated by three wickets earlier in the season.
