Cricketers in cup final
PROUD RECORD: Helensburgh cricketers face a cup final battle.
HELENSBURGH cricketers are aiming for their first major silverware in more than 20 years after reaching next month’s final of the SCU Trophy.
After an indifferent season, the Burgh side have found a new impetus and, in just one weekend, they may also have dented the title hopes of leaders Kelburne after defeating them on Saturday.
Now the players will be battling it out against Irvine for the SCU trophy on August 10 at Stirling County.
Reaching the cup final came after the team took the long trip south on Sunday to play Gala in the semi-final.
