Sweet 6 for Greens

Helensburgh 53 Grangemouth 5

Rugby - National Division Three

HELENSBURGH brought home the joy of six at Ardencaple on Saturday as they thrashed bottom club Grangemouth.

A half-dozen scintillating tries ensured the Stags were stuck in their rut at the foot of the division for another week.

It was an all-action performance from the home side, who were obviously fired up to bounce back from last week’s disappointing reverse at Lismore.

Though it was a match punctuated throughout by some inexplicable refereeing decisions, Burgh dominated both possession and territory and on this form, could be challenging for one of the promotion spots before long.

It’s been a while since such a barn-storming individual display has been seen in a Burgh jersey... step forward, James Musset. The burly prison officer ran riot, carrying the ball with furious commitment and keeping the Stags’ stand-off under secure lock and key.

Some of his hits registered on the Richter Scale and inspired fine performances from his pack colleagues David Calderwood, Blair Somerville and Andy Inglis.
