Problems for cyclists
I write in response to a letter published in the Advertiser last week concerning the cycle track by the A814 and the little amount it is used.
I think that one problem for any cyclist travelling between Helensburgh and the Faslane roundabout is the number of times the Highway has to be crossed.
The number of times a cyclist has to cross the road represents a hazardous journey.
I agree that cyclists owe a duty of care to themselves and to others by making sure they wear bright and reflective clothing.
The writer is absolutely right to be worried about carbon emissions, and we all contribute to them, but I would suggest the comment about suggested fuel consumption occasioned by the presence of cyclists is disingenuous, as this must surely represent only a tiny brushmark in the big picture.
think that all local drivers are actually very reasonable and considerate in making allowances for cyclists, and I would urge they to continue in the same way.
