THE 15th Cove and Kilcreggan Real Ale Festival takes place this weekend with a theme of ‘The Birds and Bees’.

The festival is set to supply thirsty drinkers with a variety of great-tasting ales and ciders. Altogether there will be twenty real ales, with a range of tastes and strengths and six ciders, ranging from sweet to dry.

There will be a variety of food including baked potatoes with chilli made by the Festival Chilli Queens, Phil’s superb chicken curry and a tasty beef goulash made by Milan from La Barca.

The family-friendly event will see the Craigrownie Park fundraisers entertain children with a variety of activities.

Musical entertainment from Dumfries-based folk duo, Brownlee and Blantern will be on hand to keep the crowds happy.

Visitors can leave the car as buses run on the hour from Helensburgh, with return buses from Coulport leaving on the hour until 10pm.

The event will run in Cove Burgh Hall on Saturday from noon to 8pm. Entry is £4, including a souvenir glass and tasting notes.
