PREPARATIONS are being finalised for the event set to light up the skies across Helensburgh.

The world’s largest men’s only voluntary club – the Round Table – has organised this year’s fireworks display and is inviting families along to watch the spectacular display.

The sky above Helensburgh is set to be filled with colour on Saturday, November 5 at Helensburgh Pier and all are invited along to take part in the festivities.

Organisers are gearing up to make sure visitors are kept safe and entertained from start to finish. A spokesman for the Helensburgh and District branch of the Round Table, said: “The Round Table are delighted once again to host the fireworks display at Helensburgh Pier on the 5th November.

"As always, our volunteers will be raising money for local causes and to fund next years display. We hope for great weather, a large turnout and to have a fun and safe family evening."

This year’s event is set to kick off at 6.30pm with stalls serving hot food and drink opening to the public, including the Round Table stall which will offer some novelties and hot drinks, PJ's Kitchen and stalls selling hot doughnuts and soft toys as well as entertainment.

The bonfire will be lit around 6.45pm before the fireworks take to the sky at 7.30pm. The firework show is almost complete and organisers are aiming for a wall of colour and have based this years finale on clouds of silver brocades with a brand new effect this year 'ghost shell'.

The event is free for all to attend but organisers will be collecting any donations to help cover the cost of running the display. If enough is raised to cover the cost and surplus will go to local good causes.

A JustGiving Page set up to help cover the cost of the event states: “The fireworks display has been a traditional community event for around 40 years. Everyone who lives in the town will have fond memories of watching the fireworks in years gone by. The event delights adults and children alike and has become part of the town's calendar.”

The event is volunteer run and community funded and local businesses can get involved and show their support by becoming sponsors and donations can be made in advance via the JustGiving Page.

The JustGiving page has an aim of raising £6,000 to cover the cost of the fireworks themselves, first aid cover, lighting, power and site set-up.
