Loch Lomond Rescue Boat is to host its open day this weekend, offering visitors of all ages the chance to find out about the work of the boat and take part in a range of fun activities.

The day is to take place on Saturday, July 8 at Loch Lomond Shores between 10am and 4pm, with the opportunity to meet the crew, see inside the boat and the equipment used in its rescue efforts.

It’s the 40th anniversary of the rescue boat and the free-entry open day is one of a few events being planned to raise funds for the boat.

A spokesman said: “The rescue boat is crewed by volunteers 365 days a year and we are completely reliant on charitable donations and they keep us going.

“It’s busy for us in the summer with the school holidays and we’re getting upwards of 70 callouts at the moment, so it’s good to get out and raise awareness for what we do, as well as promoting water safety.”

Admission to the event is free.
