THIS weekend is looking like another busy one around the Helensburgh and Loch Lomond area – here's a run-down of what's happening over the next few days...

* The annual Lomond Folk Festival is set to return this weekend for the 14th year.

The festival will run from Friday, July 28 to July 30 with the main stage at Balloch House Hotel car park.

The family-friendly festival kicks off on Friday night in St Kessog’s Hall at 7pm with a family ceilidh led by the Glamaig Ceilidh Band.

Saturday, July 29, will see St Kessog’s Hall used for a tea/coffee morning before storytelling sessions with Donald Nelson and friends from 2-5pm.

The main stage will see performers take to the stage from 2-6pm with Singer Station opening the entertainment and the Trongate Rum Riots closing the show.

On Sunday, July 30 the main stage will feature performances running from 12.50-4pm starting with the Ukelele Orchestra and ending with Papa Shandy and The Drams.

As well as the performances there will be a variety of activities to keep all ages entertained including open sessions with various musicians, a craft fair and tea and coffee.

Evening entertainment will run in Lomond Park Hotel, The Tullie Inn and The Doghouse.

* Elsewhere, this weekend's events calendar includes a visit from musician Artie Trezise – formerly of Singing Kettle fame – and his Tartan Tales to Ardardan Farm Shop, Garden Nursery and Tearoom on Saturday, July 29.

Artie will be performing songs and stories from his Singing Kettle years at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm – a popular performance for which tickets can be purchased in advance.

Tractor and trailer rides are also taking place on Saturday, every half hour between 11.30am and 3pm.

To book a slot on the tractor (£3) or a ticket for Artie (£5) email hannah@ardardan.co.uk.

* Meanwhile, Helensburgh Community Council is seeking volunteers for its latest community beach clean on Saturday, July 29.

Meet at Helensburgh pier, near the skate park, at 10am to take part. Please wear sensible shoes or wellies and your heavy duty Marigolds.

Bin bags will be provided by Argyll and Bute Council, who will collect the filled bags at the end of the clean-up.

Children are welcome but must be supervised by a responsible adult.

* The latest Duchess Wood work party takes place on Sunday, July 30 at 2pm, meeting at the Strathclyde Court garages in Helensburgh. All are welcome – no experience required.
