The forty-strong membership of the Peninsula Choir has been working on a sweet variety of songs for their next concert.

A Concert for Christmas is to have a change of venue this year, being held in St Modan’s Church, Rosneath instead of the usual Cove Burgh Hall.

This is simply to ring the changes and to attract potential new members to their listening audience. The added bonus is that the acoustic in the church is particularly flattering to the mixed voices of the community choristers.

Joining the choir this year will be the award winning soprano Shuna Scott Sendall who was trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Shuna will share the solo spot with Helensburgh based baritone Euros Campbell. Euros was recently awarded his Masters at the RCS and is currently studying opera there.

His Welsh musicality has already delighted Peninsula audiences. Speaking of which - the Peninsula’s own Welsh resident Duncan Williams will be accompanist for the concert together with Stephen Adam who will also accompany and conduct his own arrangements for the performance.

While it is usually possible to second guess some of the programme for a Christmas Concert, this one is not predictable.

The version of Little Town of Bethlehem is not the well known one. A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square will feature also. Other inclusions will equally delight and surprise. Tickets are £5. Under 16s are free. Included in the price is a mince pie and a warming cup.
