Over £18,500 worth of drugs has been seized during a two week Police Scotland operation centred on the communities of Argyll and West Dunbartonshire.

Class A drugs such as cocaine, heroin and MDMA were uncovered in the area during ‘Operation Woodfern’, a fortnight-long project designed to reduce drug activity in the region.

Officers also seized £4700 in cash, issued 14 warrants and arrested 43 people in the bust.

Tackling two police subdivisions, Argyll and Bute (LB) and West Dunbartonshrie (LA), Police Scotland identified that £3945 of the drug haul came from the Argyll and Bute area.

Tranquilizer diazepam and cannabis were also confiscated by police throughout Operation Woodfern.

Detective Inspector Andy Doherty from L Division CID said:

“This operation was all about sending a clear message to those engaging in the acquisition and distribution of controlled drugs across Argyll and West Dunbartonshire.”

“No matter where you are, we will put a stop to anyone trying to blight a community through drugs.

“Criminals operating in quieter areas may believe they are working under the radar but that is certainly not the case. We have a team of officers dedicated to targeting drugs crime right across the division who work every day to gather intelligence and execute warrants to disrupt these criminals and the damage they do to communities.

“I would urge any members of the public with information about drugs activity in their area to contact police on 101. If you provide us with the information, we will act on it and put a stop to those engaging in the supply of controlled drugs.”
