Helensburgh Police have issued a warning to residents about scammers operating the in area.
They have asked the community to be wary of cold callers to their home, or phishing phone calls/texts or emails to their home computers.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "The individuals and crime groups involved in this type of crime can be very convincing and persistent, urging you to provide personal information or banking details.
"If you are in any doubt do not enter into any agreement or provide any personal information to these individuals.
"Also as Spring approaches unfortunately we experience an increase in this type of crime along with rogue traders, who call at your home offering to carry out general maintenance or gardening work which more than often results in very poor or sub-standard work at inflated prices.
"This is a despicable crime which is often targeted at the elderly or vulnerable, if you are concerned that a neighbour or family member is being targeted please call police on 101. "You can also obtain more crime prevention advice by visiting the Keep Safe page of the Police Scotland website."
