Two potential development sites in the Helensburgh area, including the derelict former pier at Craigendoran, are set to go under the hammer at a Glasgow property auction today (August 3).

The pier, and two acres of surrounding land, are among more than 80 lots in Future Property Auctions' catalogue for the event at the Glasgow Radisson Hotel.

The pier is described as an "area for action" in Argyll and Bute Council's local development plan and has a guide price of £48,000.

Craigendoran pier was formerly a major hub for Clyde steamer services, but it was closed in 1972 after years of decline.

The other development site of local interest in Wednesday's auction covers 3.5 acres at Buncrana, off Bellcairn Drive in Cove.

The Cove site, which has a guide price of £75,000, is described in the auction catalogue as having “unrivalled possible potential to develop exclusive residential accommodation”.

The auction catalogue contains almost 90 separate lots and also includes five separate residential properties in Helensburgh itself.
