SLIMMING World members braved the rain to complete their annual race for life and raise funds for charity.

Members from Helensburgh and Dumbarton took part in the challenge and either walked or ran the 5k distance to raise over £700.

A team from Slimming World take on the event every year and raise hundreds of pounds which is used to help people suffering from Cancer and their families.

Bernadette McParland, a consultant for Slimming World organised and participated in the Helensburgh event where members from her own class and fellow consultant Jo Nairn’s class took part.

She also organised and took part in the Dumbarton 5k where members from other classes took part, taking the total number of members taking part to around 100.

In order to maximise the amount that they raised the groups held a raffle at both events and as well as sponsorship accepted donations.

Bernadette, who took part in both 5k races on the same day, said: “Our lovely members who took part enjoyed the challenge for this great cause.

“Members take part and do it at their own pace as it’s all part of Body Magic which is encouraged in all our Groups, where members achieve Awards for activity and exercise. We promote Healthy Eating and Healthy Living.

“We were delighted with the number of people who turned out for this fantastic event on such a wet miserable day that it was.”
