THE centrepiece of Helensburgh's new submarine museum will be moved into her permanent home on Tuesday, October 10.
Brian Keating, the founder of the Scottish Submarine Centre in West King Street, contacted the Advertiser shortly before this issue went to press to confirm the date of the move.
X-51, a 50-foot 'midget submarine' which was launched in 1955, is presently resting in a temporary home outside the Clyde Off Site Centre in Rhu after being brought north from storage at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on September 7.
The museum, Helensburgh's first purpose-built visitor attraction, will also feature an interactive memorial to the submarine personnel who died on Royal Navy service.
