OVERNIGHT resurfacing work on the A82 between Tarbet and Balloch starts this Monday, October 24.

The work, which is expected to take six nights to complete, will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 7am on a 1km stretch of the route, with no work taking place on Friday or Saturday night.

The road will remain open throughout the work, but temporary traffic lights and a 10mph speed restriction will be in place while the work is being undertaken.

Traffic management will be removed out with working hours to ensure minimum disruption but a speed restriction of 30mph will remain as traffic will be using a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s representative for the north west, said: “This latest investment to the A82 will improve the quality and safety of the connection between Tarbet and Balloch.

“We’ve taken steps to programme the resurfacing works to take place overnight and outwith the peak summer months to minimise the impact to the traveling public, and have also made sure to avoid working on Friday or Saturday nights to further limit any disruption.

“We would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date information, and leave some extra time for their journey.”

A total of £173,000 is being spent on the work.

In addition to the A82 resurfacing, which is expected to be complete by 7am on November 1, resurfacing work is continuing on a stretch of the A83 trunk road around eight miles north of Inveraray.

That work, between 7am and 7pm on weekdays only, started on October 17 and is due for completion by October 28.
