THE HELENSBURGH branch of the Boys Brigade have managed to attract some new recruits in what is their centenary year.

With 100 years’ presence in the town the Boys Brigade have been hosting many events to celebrate the landmark and one event in particular seemed to attract the attention of potential new members.

The Boys most recent celebration was a games night in which members old, new and potential could let loose and take part in a variety of activities, celebrating the success of the last 100 years.

Also as part of the centenary celebrations the group have set up two displays to show the people of Helensburgh what the Boys Brigade do and a little about their history.

Having previously opened up a time capsule as a celebration the contents, photographs of past Brigades and their badges, along with other items including recent photographs of the current members and the new centenary badge, designed by members are on display in Helensburgh Library.

A second display of photographs and information features in the front window of Brunton Miller Solicitors on Colquhoun Street.

The next celebration of the centenary year is the Big Breakfast for the 1st and 2nd Helensburgh Company. The breakfast celebration will take place in Helensburgh Parish Church Halls in Colquhoun Square on Saturday, October 29 from 10am until 12noon.
