JUDY Murray’s global programme to introduce girls to tennis is launching in Helensburgh.

The Miss Hits programme is aimed at introducing young girls aged five to eight to tennis.

Lorna Brown has completed the specialist training and has run three popular classes in Cardross.

She has now teamed up with Helensburgh Tennis Club to ensure local girls have access to the successful programme too.

Lorna said: “Girls, especially between the ages of five and eight, often have very different goals from participating in sports from boys and the Miss Hits programme is designed to entice them to try and more importantly retain their interest so the tennis bug can take hold.

“Activities lean towards teaching the basics of tennis using characters, dance and even fashion.”

Bobby Kerr of Helensburgh Tennis Club commented: “Helensburgh is very keen to develop all areas of junior tennis and we see this as another string to our bow.”

Classes are set to run on a Thursday at 3.30pm in Helensburgh Tennis Club.

The classes are set to start on Thursday, January 26.

Spaces are limited so anyone interested is asked to get in touch, no later than January 23 by contacting 07810 372955 or emailing lornsb8@gmail.com or bobby.kerr@tennishelensburgh.org.uk
