IT was less than three hours into the new year when the first Helensburgh baby of 2017 was welcomed into the world.

Adam Charlie MacInnes King was born at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley at 2.34am on January 1, weighing a healthy 7lb 15oz.

Born to proud mum Elaine and dad Craig, Adam is the fourth grandchild for well-known Helensburgh couple Margaret and Duncan MacInnes.

Excited to welcome the new edition to the family were big sisters Anna and Ava, who are pictured with baby Adam and mum Elaine.

The family live at Kidston Gardens, at the west end of the town.

Proud gran Margaret, who runs the Margaret Rose School of Dance, spoke to the Advertiser following the arrival of grandchild number four.

She said: “Adam was due on New Year’s Day, so he arrived exactly on time.

“The whole family are doing well. I know Adam’s mum and dad are delighted to have a wee boy.

“I was very excited to have another grandchild especially on New Year’s Day. Ava is very excited to be a big sister, and is like the bodyguard by Adams crib. Anna is very helpful to mummy and daddy and is over the moon to have a brother.

“As gran, I’m not sure if it will be Highland shoes or football boots for Adam but I am hoping it can be both.”

Baby Adam gave the family something extra special to celebrate in the New Year and is making sure that everyone is kept on their toes

Speaking about how baby Adam was settling in, Elaine said: “He’s a great baby. It was lovely to have a wee boy as an addition to the family and his sisters just love him.

“They are just smitten and won’t give him a minute’s peace.

“He arrived on his due date so we had everything ready for his arrival.

“Giving birth on New Year’s Day was interesting, we had a Chinese in the hospital.

“He has settled in really well, it is like he has always been here. My husband and the girls have been a great help and Adam is definitely keeping us busy.”
