A LOCAL housing association has announced plans for a development of ten new affordable homes in Garelochhead on the site of the village's former Roman Catholic church.
Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has asked Argyll and Bute Council for planning permission for the proposed development on the corner of Linn Walk and Feorlin Way, formerly occupied by the parish church of Our Lady Star of the Sea.
The proposed development comprises one four-bedroom villa, suitable for six people, two three-bedroomed terraced houses, four two-bedroomed semi-detached homes and three one-bedroom bungalows.
In a draft supporting statement, ACHA says: “The individual homes are designed to a very high standard with increased thermal performance alleviating any potential fuel poverty.
“The design presented will result in a residential neighbourhood which has a sense of identity, is safe and pleasant in terms of the location with its green links, with easy access to local amenities and public transport.”
