AN AWARD-WINNING contemporary folk duo will play live in Arrochar next month.

Broom Bezzums, comprising the talents and striking stage presence of Andrew Cadie and Mark Bloomer, will take to the stage at the Three Villages Hall on Tuesday, March 11 at 7pm.

The multi-award winning, powerful live acoustic duo, who are firmly established in the German acoustic scene, have been performing together for 10 years, are three-time winners of the German Rock and Pop Prize and regularly appear on both TV and national radio.

Cadie, a folk musician and composer from Northumberland, and Mark Bloomer, rock drummer turned singer-songwriter from the Black Country, both settled with their German wives and spend most of the year gigging on the continent, where people love their powerful songs, impressive musicality and British humour.

Their music is based on Anglo-Celtic traditions, and is flavoured by Andrew’s Northumbrian homeland and the formidable rock heritage of Mark’s Black Country roots.

Broom Bezzums' familiar approach to folk music is a real hit here as well as the continent. After a successful gig at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival, they were invited to support world renowned Show of Hands on tour and Andrew has been a guest performer in Jez Lowe’s band.

Former Radio 2 folk presenter Mike Harding recently announced on his radio show that Broom Bezzums is one of his favourite bands, adding “I love everything they do”, while well-known folk musician Steve Knightley called them “just about the best young duo on the circuit”.

Andrew says: “It's especially exciting to be playing in Arrochar because my brother and family are part of the community there, it's such a beautiful place to visit!”

Tickets, priced £10 (£8 concessions) are available from Arrochar Post Office or the Three Villages Hall, with 'early bird' discounts available until February 14.
