INDEPENDENT board members are being sought for the new Argyll and Bute Library and Leisure Charitable Trust.

Following a decision last year to transfer Argyll and Bute Council’s library, sport and leisure services to a new trust, three independent board members are now being recruited to help set up the new charitable company, provide advice and support the trust’s management.

The council is keen to receive applications from people who have a track record in business or community management, experience of working as part of a charity’s board or senior management team, knowledge of and interest in libraries, sport and leisure, and relevant business skills, such as financial, legal, property, marketing and ICT.

The council’s policy lead for community and culture, Councillor Robin Currie, said: “We want the trust to progress the business in a sustainable way, by providing high quality services that the public value and trust. The trust needs board members who can deliver this.”

Positions will be unpaid but reasonable expenses will be available.
