SEVERAL Helensburgh and Lomond primary schools celebrated success at a reciting and singing contest held by Helensburgh Burns Club.
Seventy primary school children from the area competed in the age groups primary 4/5 and primary 6/7.
This year’s event saw an increased number of children competing as well as an overall increase in the standard, making the judges' jobs tough.
The schools compete internally to put forward the children for the finals, which were held on March 9, at Hermitage Academy.
Anna Grant, from Cardross Primary, took first position was first in the primary 4/5 reciting and Marrianne Ridland, from Lomond Primary, was firsttook the title in primary 4/5 singing. Jean Borland Sinclair, of Kilcreggan Primary, was first in the primary 6/7 reciting and Eden Sanderson, of John Logie Baird, was first in the primary 6/7 singing.
The four winners then went on to competed for the Young Burnsian of the Year trophy, which was won by Eden.
Enez Anderson, of the Glasgow and District Burns Association, presented the trophies.
