A HELENSBURGH resident who fell in the street has thanked the good samaritan's who stopped their cars to come to her aid.

Anne Clark, 80, was walking down Sinclair Street on her way to the hairdressers when she lost her footing and fell on Wednesday, March 8.

Three men and a woman who witnessed her fall, quickly came to her aid. They helped her get back to her feet and even offered to drive her to where she needed to go.

Too flustered at the time, Anne extends her thanks to the kind people who didn't hesitate in coming to her aid.

She said: "I can't thank them enough. The four people were so helpful and kind, they offered to take me where I needed to go. I was so embarrassed and felt like an idiot but I was so thankful that they stopped to check on me."

Once back on her feet Anne made her way to the hairdressers where she noticed that her arm was swollen. On the advice of her hairdresser she called her neighbour who took her to the Vale of Leven Hospital.

After being seen by a doctor Anne discovered she had broken her arm. Since the accident Anne has been at the hospital twice for check-ups on her arm and is now at home resting while it heals. Anne wants to thank everyone who has helped her, called to check in on her and sent cards wishing her well.

She said: "I want to thank the four people who came to the aid of a complete stranger, my hairdresser, my neighbour and all my family and friends who have been so helpful since.

"With a lot of crime reported I thought it was important to highlight how kind and helpful people can be to a stranger."

Councillor Vivien Dance, who chairs Helensburgh and Lomond Crime Prevention Panel, said: "This story is so uplifting and sits alongside the news that Helensburgh is a fine place to live, made so by good people who care.

"The people who came to the aid of the lady are just typical of good Samaritans who everyday stop to help and care for others in distress, it was just automatic that they would go to the lady’s aid, that is how caring people live their lives.

"I am so glad that the lady has taken the time to remind all of us that the small number of individuals who live their lives to different standards are not typical of our town and its residents, it is in fact full of thoughtful, kind people who step up to the mark for others in their daily routines.

"I am sure we all wish the lady a full recovery from her injuries and hope there is no lasting damage."
