SENIOR pupils at Kilcreggan Primary have had a busy few weeks covering everything from reciting Burns, competition success and a residential activity week.

Primary six and seven pupils went to Ardmay House Outdoor Centre for their activity week where they participated in a variety of activities including forest walks, abseiling, team challenges and canoeing.

Frances Bretman, head teacher, said: "The weather was extremely kind to us and it was hard to believe this was February in the west of Scotland.

"The staff at the centre commented on what polite, knowledgeable and well behaved children our pupils were.

"All pupils received certificates acknowledging their efforts throughout the week. They are also hoping to achieve Dynamic Youth awards following submission of evidence of their achievements during the week."

The group of 18 returned to school and no sooner were they settled back in before they were off to the Rotary Club Inter School Quiz at Lomond School on Monday, March 6. The team were delighted to take away second place.

Eight pupils from primary six and seven attended the Helensburgh Burn's Society Primary School Championships. Primary six pupils recited part or all of To A Mouse and primary seven pupils recited part of Tam O Shanter.

Ms Bretman, said: "We are again delighted to say all pupils did incredibly well and we are very proud of them all. Well done to Jean Borland Sinclair who won the P6/7 section of the competition with Lomond second and Rhu third."

Jean will now be able to participate in the National Burn's Society Competition in May.

There was success for Kilcreggan Primary in the Rotary Young Photographers competition also with Robbie DeVenny scooping a silver medal.
