STAFF from Cardross Primary have been getting into a training routine as they prepare to take on the Kiltwalk Challenge.

Primary seven class teacher Kiersty Travers convinced 10 other staff members to take on the 23 mile challenge from Glasgow Green to Balloch with her.

The 11-strong group are currently in training for the event which they aim to complete as a team under the name ‘Class Act’. The staff are looking forward to the challenge which gives them the opportunity to promote health and wellbeing and the school values, while having fun at the same time.

Ms Travers said: “Health and wellbeing is important to us at Cardross Primary. It permeates all we do in school as we teach and encourage good physical health and emotional wellbeing.

“Our pupils are keenly involved in many sports and physical activities and we love to celebrate the achievements they make through various walks, runs, cycle rides at our weekly school gatherings.

“At Cardross Primary we also care deeply for others and use opportunities to raise monies for differing charities and organisations.”

Each of the team is fundraising for charities in which they have a personal connection. These range from national charities to locally based charities.

Anyone wanting to support the staff and their charities can donate online by visiting their fundraising pages (listed below) or by joining them somewhere on the route as support.

The amount raised by the team for their various charities currently stands at over £900 and with the Kiltwalk set to take place on Sunday, April 30, the team at Cardross Primary are hoping to raise more.
