THE Candidates for the three Helensburgh and Lomond wards have now been confirmed.

Nominations closed at 4pm today and the candidates being voted for in the poll on May 4 are as follows - Helensburgh and Lomond South (3 seats) - Jacqueline Davis (Liberal Democrat), David Kinniburgh (Conservative), Ian MacQuire (independent), Ellen Morton (Liberal Democrat), Richard Trail (SNP), Jack Streeter (UKIP), Mike Crowe (Independent) and Christopher Fagan (Labour).

Helensburgh Central (4 seats) - Lorna Douglas (SNP), Graham Hardie (Liberal Democrat), Aileen Morton (Liberal Democrat), Gary Mulvaney (Conservative) and James Robb (Independent).

Lomond North (3 seats) - Fiona Baker (Independent), Paul Kennedy (Liberal Democrat), Barbara Morgan (Conservative), George Freeman (Independent), Fiona Howard (Labour), Robert McIntyre (Independent) and Iain Paterson (SNP).

Local Councillors are responsible for making decisions on your behalf about local services.

Argyll and Bute Council consists of 11 electoral wards, each represented by three or four elected Councillors.

Councillors are elected using the single transferable vote system. This means voters list the candidates in order of preference.

Voters will head to the polls on Thursday, May 4 to elect members of all Scotland's 32 local authorities.
