GARELOCHHEAD had that Friday feeling at a special Easter fun day organised by youth group Route 81.

More than 130 people turned out to enyoy an array of food, drink and events throughout the ‘Feel Good Friday’ event – including classics like pass the parcel, egg bowling and of course an egg hunt.

The events brought a feel good vibe to the day, which is exactly what the 14 young organisers hoped for.

The volunteers helped stage the event, which was subsidised by Argyll Community Housing which stumped up £500 for Route 81 to provide an Easter programme of events for five days – included the Easter fun day event.

Mum, Julie McGuire, said: “The Easter fun day was a fantastic idea – my children both loved it, especially the egg hunt.

“The event brought all the community together and it makes a nice change to have something fun to do in Garelochhead.”

Mum-of-five, Claire Mitchel, said: “The staff and Route 81 young people were very helpful and friendly and brilliant with the kids.”

‘Feel Good Friday’ is a 10-week project run by Route 81, where each week a group of young people do a good deed to or for someone else, to make a positive difference in the community.

A piece of art, funded by Lomond and District Fine Art Society, is in the process of being produced and will include the photographs of the good deeds.

The ‘Feel Good Friday’ project was created by a small group of young people, including volunteers Conner, 14, and Megan, 12.

Conner said: “It was nice to see people get out and enjoy themselves – definitely better than staying indoors all day. Today was 100000 out of 10.”

Megan, added: “I will definitely volunteer again.”
