PUPILS, staff, families and the community helped to raise money for a new sound system for St Joseph’s Primary School.

The pirate themed spring fair saw all ages dress up for the occasion and take part in the variety of games and activities on offer to support the school.

There was a treasure hunt to keep young pirates busy as well as stalls including fishing for coke and pull a string.

The children took advantage of the face painting and tattoo stalls while the parents and members of the community browsed the stall and stopped in at the tea shop which was well attended throughout the day.

The parent council organised the event which raised a total of £2,100, which will be put towards a new sound system, set to be installed in the school next term.

Michelle Collins, head teacher at St Joseph’s, said: “This was a very successful day with the Parent Council raising a total of £2100.

“The costumes were fantastic and we had lots of stalls including fishing for coke, treasure hunt, pull a string, tombola, face painting, tattoos and an excellent, and very well attended, tea shop.

“It was, as ever, a real community event which allowed us all to enjoy the day together.”
