CHURCHILL residents got in the festival spirit at the weekend as the fun-filled Fair In The Square came to the area.

Crowds headed to the packed square on Saturday to take in the village fete-style event, which was held in the heart of the Burgh estate.

A variety of stalls were set up offering all kinds of goods to visitors while many local groups provided the exciting entertainment.

Helensburgh Pipe Band and Neptune Volunteer Band kept the visitors happy along with Churchill youth group Backchat.

Jenni Crumless, Backchat’s project coordinator, said: “It was a really good event. The children did a hiphop dance and they got a really good response from the crowd. Everyone really enjoyed it.”

Young dancers from Helensburgh and the surrounding area also got in on the action.

The fun continued into the evening with entertainment in the Drumfork Club. Burgh musicians took centre-stage before the disco was in full swing.
