INCLEMENT weather did not dampen the spirits of more than 300 people who turned out to support the fundraising efforts of the Rhu Primary School Association.

The group organised a spring fair and bike sale on May 13, with almost all of the 67 bikes on offer finding a new home.

The chocolate tombola was a favourite with all the children and the tea room was appreciated by everyone after the parents generously donated cakes.

The school received sponsorship for the fair this year with donations from Babcock, GSS and The Toy Shop in Helensburgh.

Fiona Barrie, chairwoman of the RPSA, said: “We would particularly like to thank those stall holders who came along on the day, those local businesses that kindly provided raffle prizes and the companies that sponsored us, as without their support we could not have run such a successful fair.

“A special thank you to everyone who came to the fair and braved the wet weather.”

The funds raised from the event will be used to purchase extra school equipment.

Last year the funds raised from the same event assisted in the purchase of a stage and this year organisers are hopeful that they will be able to provide the school with some more playground items.
