A SECOND formal offer to buy at least part of a former Argyll and Bute Council office near Helensburgh has been submitted.

The council’s Helensburgh and Lomond area committee was told last week that two offers have now been made for the site at Blairvadach, near Shandon.

Ross McLaughlin, the authority’s property development and estates manager, said the council hoped to set a closing date of early July for bids for the site, though he declined to say whether the bids received so far were for all or part of the property.

The site is earmarked in the Argyll and Bute local development plan for up to 115 houses.

Mr McLaughlin also told Tuesday’s meeting that he hoped a conclusion to the sale of the former Hermitage Academy site to developer Taylor Wimpey was “weeks away”.

Taylor Wimpey's application to build 95 homes on the site was approved in November, and the company is now inviting members of the public to express interest in buying a property at the development, to be known as 'Hermitage Grange'.
