A HELENSBURGH support service has been praised for its quality of care, support, management and leadership by inspectors.

Premier Healthcare aims to help clients stay at home and feel safe and supported by offering 24 hour practical help with personal care, befriending, domestic duties and shopping.

The Care Inspectorate report outlined positive feedback about the quality of the service and the support provided by staff.

Comments included “Staff are caring and polite”, “care could not be better”, “first-rate service” and “I am extremely happy with the support given to my mother by Premier Healthcare”.

The support service was awarded a five – six is the highest grade – for the quality of care and support and a four for the quality of management and leadership.

The report said people had spoken positively about the relationships they had with staff describing them as caring, friendly and supportive.

Other positives included the information given to people considering using the service, as it detailed the range of services and care options available allowing people to make an informed choice about the care they receive.

The report also praised the small core teams built around each person which provided a greater quality of care and that the staff felt supported and valued by management.

“The management team was available outwith normal working hours to provide advice and guidance to staff should they have any concerns about a person’s health or well-being, further demonstrating the manager’s commitment to supporting staff and to improving outcomes for people using the service.”

Inspectors identified some areas for improvement, including recording what was discussed and agreed during review meetings and documenting personal plans to continue to meet people’s needs.

Other areas for improvement included the service’s complaints policy and Adult Support and Protection (ASP) policy and monitoring of service documentation.

The only requirement outlined by the inspectors was that ASP training must be provided to all staff.

The Advertiser contacted Premier Healthcare but management declined to comment on the outcome of the report.
