PEOPLE from Helensburgh and the surrounding area turned out in force for an afternoon of fun and games at the annual Fair in the Square.
The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Welfare team, based at Churchill Estate in Helensburgh, held the event, which was officially opened by Captain Carl Lias, Superintendent Fleet Maintenance (SFM), and featured fun stalls and displays from dozens of supporting organisations.
Represented on the day were Armed Forces charity SSAFA, Forces Family Friday and the local Churchill Chill Out Group who ran events including tombolas, raffles, face painting, hook-the-duck and inflatable sumo wrestling.
Ministry of Defence Police Officers took one of their search dogs along to the event and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service took time out to show visiting youngsters, and some adults, one of their fire engines.
The West of Scotland Military Wives Choir also attended to provide musical accompaniment to the other activities.
Event organisers Sophia McArdle, Sean Morrow and Iain McKenzie from RNRM Welfare thanked those who contributed and who attended the Fair.
Sophia McArdle, said: “There are so many people who contributed. Helensburgh’s business community were particularly generous, donating a huge variety of prizes for raffles and tombolas.
"Babcock were also great, helping to supply food for the event and also staff to help out.
"A big thank you too to Royal Marines from 43 Commando who donated their time and muscle to helping us erect the tents and marquees.”
The money raised from the event will be donated to charity and will also go towards a variety of community projects.
