HELENSBURGH is set for another busy weekend packed with events. This weekens there is something for everyone with a beer festival, the Luss Highland Games, a tractor rally and plenty of activities at Loch Lomond Shores, as well as two events on the Rosneath peninsula.

Beer Festival - Live music and real ales are set to be the the focus of the weekend at the Argyll Bar.

The Helensburgh bar is getting ready to host its first beer festival which will run from tomorrow, Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2.

There will be live music throughout the weekend to accompany the array of drink with Casper and Co performing on Friday night, the Contractors performing on Saturday night and the Joe Quinn Duo entertaining on the Sunday.

A selection of real ales, craft beers and ciders will be on offer as well as gin, rum and whisky.

Luss Highland Games - Thousands of visitors from all over the world are set to flock to Luss this Saturday for the village’s annual Highland Games.

Among those present at the showpiece event will be members of the Clan Colquhoun, who travel to the loch-side village from as far afield as the USA, Canada and New Zealand to take part in the piped procession from Luss Pier to the games field which opens the day.

In addition, this Saturday will be the end of an era for the event as it will be the last time Sir Malcolm Colquhoun will be the Games’ chieftain; from 2018 he will pass the duty on to his son, Patrick Colquhoun, who is a member of the organising committee.

The parade to the field, led by Sir Malcolm and the Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band, leaves Luss Pier at 10.45am, and Sir Malcolm will officially open the day’s proceedings at 11am before the competitions get underway.

Tractor Rally - Vintage tractor owners are preparing to make their way to Ardardan Estate for one of their biggest events of the year.

The Vintage Tractor Rally, is set to take place this weekend, Sunday, July 2.

Tractor enthusiasts will be able to see tractors up close, with a children’s zone including bouncy castle and arts and crafts also provided to keep youngsters entertained.

Tractor Archie and Trailer Tom will also be on hand to take people on rides around the estate.

Loch Lomond Shores - Loch Lomond Shores are gearing up for a summer filled with fun and activities and final preparations are well underway.

Professor Murray the Magician will be back at the Loch-side attraction to astound crowds on July 2, while Amnimal Man sets up his mini zoo on two occasions. The Drakes of Hazard, arts and crafts and a range of well-known mascots will appear over the summer to meet and greet visitors.

The Regal Storytellers are set to entertain with free sessions on July 14 and 20 and local duo Sarah Crome and Paul Hunter team up once again as King Robert the Bruce and Queen Elizabeth to educate visitors.

Bricks 4 Kids, an activity which allows children the chance to design models with LEGO will return on July 27.

All the regular attractions including Treezone aerial adventure, SEALIFE Aquarium, Wee Heilan Man Mini Golf, Lomond Pirates soft play, In Your Element and Lomond Birds of Prey Centre are ready for summer holiday fun also.

Ceilidh - The Commodore Hotel is preparing to host a Ceilidh Dance on Friday evening.

The Helensburgh and District Highland Association have organised the event on Friday which will see music provided by the Liam Stewart Scottish Dance Band.

Tickets are priced at £8 and can be purchased on the night, Friday, June 30.

Church Fete - Craigrownie Parish Church in Cove is hosting its annual summer fete this weekend.

The event, at Cove Burgh Hall from 2-4pm on Saturday, July 1, will feature a host of stalls; the hall will be open from 10am until 12 noon on the day for donations to be handed in.

Bowls - Cove & Kilcreggan Bowling Club are having a 'come and try' day this Saturday, July 1. 

Everyone is welcome, whether you're nine or 90 years old. 

Equipment and coaching provided - all you need to bring is flat shoes. 

The day will also include a barbecue and Wappenshaw. The fun starts at 2pm.
