A TEENAGER who was involved in a crash near Cardross is encouraging people to take care on the roads after she escaped with only minor injuries.

Ciara Fisher, from Alexandria, was returning home over the Carman Hill after visiting her friend in Helensburgh when the crash occurred on Saturday, September 9.

Police are appealing for information in a bid to establish what happened.

The 19-year-old is shaken by the incident and has been left sore but says she was lucky it wasn't more serious.

The Advertiser understands that Ciara's car careered off the road onto the grass verge while avoiding an oncoming car.

A spokesman for Dumbarton Police, said: "At about 1pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017, Police Scotland received a report of a road collision on the Cardross Road.

"Officers attended along with Scottish Fire and Rescue and Ambulance service, a female occupant was removed from the vehicle by the Fire service and taken to the hospital by the ambulance service."

Friends of Ciara posted a public appeal on Facebook to urge any witnesses to come forward, which has been shared more than 1,800 times, but the teenager, who is still recovering from the crash said she is keen to trace the man who stopped to help her.

Ciara, said: "I am appealing for the person who called 999 and helped me, by giving me a drink of juice and waiting with me, to come forward and get in touch, I'd like to thank him."

Ciara is asking anyone with information to get in touch with the police in the hope of tracking down the other driver so that it doesn't happen to anyone else who might not be as lucky as she was.

Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident including establishing further details of another car believed to be involved in the crash, which had made off before police arrived.
