A TAKE This Ladies Night has kickstarted the fundraising of the Helensburgh Cancer Research UK shop.

The shop are aiming to beat the £10,257 raised last year for Stand Up To Cancer and are well underway thanks to a successful ladies night.

Tribute band Take This, the Urbaniks dancers, DJ Stuart Maule and a fashion show all helped raise £2,000 towards the campaign.

Organisers were delighted with the turn-out at the sold out event held at The Commodore Hotel on Saturday, September 9.

Alison Sturgeon, assistant manager at the shop extended her thanks to Robert at the Commodore for donating the venue and raffle prizes, Stuart Maule for his DJ services, Laura Kate for her fashion show and Take This and Miss Demeanaz from Urbaniks Street Skool of Dance.

Alison, said: "Our volunteer Donna Hicks appeared on stage as part of the Miss Demeanaz dance crew as well as volunteering in our shop each week.

"Our Ladies Night buffet was kindly donated by 17 local restaurants and coffee shops, The Buffet Shop, PJ's Kitchen, Ardarden, Riverhill Courtyard, The Coffee Club, Fancy Fillings, The GingerBread Man, Soni Spice, Annya's, Masala Twist, The Lido, The Palace, The Sun, The SugarBoat, Humbles and The Terrace Coffee House.

"Our raffles prizes were all donated by Babcock, The Carrick, The Wee Kelpie, Ardarden , The Duck Bay, Partners Hair, Jill Robert's Hair, Beauty Within, Top To Toe and Wilkies and we thank them all for their contribution."

The big event of this year's campaign in Helensburgh is a family-friendly fun day at Helensburgh Rugby Club on Sunday, September 24 from 12-5pm.
