OUTLINE plans have been lodged for the construction of two new homes in a small hamlet near overlooking Loch Long.

Applicant Debbie Gourlay, of Lochgoilhead, has asked Argyll and Bute Council to grant planning permission 'in principle' for the erection of two dwelling houses in Portincaple, north of Garelochhead – one on a site north-east of a residential property, Rockmount, the second to the north of the same building.

Ms Gourlay's application seeks the council's approval for the principle of development on the sites, with the detailed designs of the buildings to be submitted, and considered, only once the current applications are approved.

A supporting planning statement describes each of the sites as “an overgrown area of ground” and “one of a few owned by the applicant”.

According to that supporting statement, talks were held between Ms Gourlay and Argyll and Bute Council officials over the possibility of building on several sites in the area, but only three were deemed suitable for development.

Papers on Ms Gourlay's two Portincaple applications can be viewed by searching Argyll and Bute Council's website for the application codes 17/02171/PP and 17/0272/PP.

The local authority's planning committee recently held a hearing in Garelochhead to decide on plans for another house in Portincaple, this one close to another residential property in the area, The Nest.

That application was granted after the hearing, held at the Gibson Hall on August 30.
