A CARDROSS Nursery which has "children who are polite, friendly and keen to learn", has received a "satisfactory" inspection and review from Education Scotland.

The Nursery Rhymes private daycare nursery in Reay Avenue was found to have a number of key strengths including children of all ages enjoying good access to fresh air and active learning within outdoor play areas.

Another key strength was that following a period of staff change, the recent improvements led by the manger, have resulted in positive improvements across the setting.

Areas of improvement were discussed with a representative of Argyll and Bute Council and the headteacher.

They included a refocus on core values, shared vision and aims to ensure the daycare reflected all it wants to achieve for its children and the continued development of approaches to planning, observation and assessment of children's learning.

The third area for improvement was to further develop practitioners interactions and effective questioning techniques to support children to make the progress they are capable of.

Education Scotland evaluated four areas within Nursery Rhyme as satisfactory: the leadership of change; learning, teaching, and assessment; securing children's progress; and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion.

The Care Inspectorate graded the quality of care and support, the quality of staffing and the quality of management and leadership as 'adequate' and the quality of environment as 'good'.

The report read: "We are confident that the setting has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.

"Argyll and Bute Council will inform parents/carers about the setting’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of its settings."
