A HELENSBURGH MSP is playing her part in helping the World's Biggest Coffee Morning pass its fundraising total by putting the kettle on.

MSP Jackie Baillie is encouraging Helensburgh residents to join her by taking part in the Macmillan Cancer Support event this month and help them to pass their £200m target.

Ms Baillie, said: “I know a considerable number of constituents have personal experiences of the problems a cancer diagnosis can bring to both patients and their families, and Macmillan has been there to support many of those in need.

“We are lucky in Dumbarton, Vale of Leven and Helensburgh to have such a dedicated team of staff and volunteers providing Macmillan’s cancer support services at local libraries and the Vale of Leven Hospital.

“The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a great opportunity for local people to support this vital work. It's an easy and fun way to raise money for Macmillan, and every penny you raise will help people with cancer.”

Thousands of people across the UK took part in the event last year, helping to raise a total of £29.5m for Macmillan. The official day for the event is Friday, September 29 but anyone looking to take part is able to hold an event at a time which suits them.

The idea is that people get together with family, friends or colleagues over coffee and cake.
