HELENSBURGH master baker and businesswoman Melanie Andrews has announced the launch of her new book – Baking with Melanie Andrews.

Melanie, owner of the town’s Craigard Tearooms, previously won the Gourmand World Cook Book Awards in Scotland and was runner-up in the World Cook Book Awards in 2015.

Following on from her success, she decided to write another book to see if she was able to make it better than the last one.

Now, Baking with Melanie Andrews, published by Austin Macauley, which went on sale on Thursday, celebrates old fashioned tried and tested recipes whilst combining them with modern day technology to recreate and simplify great bakes.

The book aims to prove that you don’t need a million different ingredients to create masterpieces and that baking is not as difficult as some people perceive.

Melanie said: “It’s taken nearly a year to compile this book with easy recipes that everyone could attempt. I see no point trying to make something difficult when it doesn’t have to be.

“I have thousands of images of my cakes over the years and thousands of hand written recipes that I am now putting to good use.

“I am very excited that Austin Macauley decided to commission it.”

Though excited to see her book published and on sale, Melanie admitted that putting it together wasn’t easy.

She said: “It’s not the easiest thing, writing a book, as it requires a lot of patience, and I have absolutely none of that.

“Life is an education and I love that in my industry you never stop learning.”
